A vision that became a successful "cult event" and is now causing a stir in Europe!

With its inauguration in July 2016, the vision of the organizers before the first edition of "144 - A Question of Honor" was clear:
Let us create a unique and extraordinary golf event!

144 - the largest golf tournament in Europe, where up to 1,000 amateurs from all nations and all handicap classes compete in their teams in the "Ryder Cup of the Amateurs".
Similar to the Ryder Cup, the famous team competition between the USA and Europe in which no prize money is paid out, "144" is also solely about honor. The prizes, worth a total of 70,000 euros, will not go to the winning teams themselves, but will be used to support the respective club's own student and youth teams. What an excellent idea for promoting young talent!

An exciting, spectacular and unique idea turned into reality: Within 4 years the event has grown steadily to more than 1000 participants! Year after year is completely sold out within 15 minutes. Feedback received from the media was an impressive reflection of the strong traction the event´s concept had gained. Participants and sponsors were enthusiastic about the inspiring, emotional event at the Quellness & Golfresort Bad Griesbach, so that in 2020 "144" was held for the first time also in Austria at the beautiful Wörthersee. Since then, "144" has been held annually in both Bad Griesbach and Carinthia.
In 2023, the next significant step will now be taken:
"144 - goes to Sweden".

2023

4th edition Austria/Carinthia

This year, "144 am Wörthersee" saw another increase in the number of participants, with 66 teams and over 500 people taking part. The three different tournament venues in Velden, Dellach and Moosburg were the scene of two cannon launches over all three days. The boat party once again proved to be an absolute highlight and was fully booked twice with over 150 people!

2023

7th edition in Bad Griesbach

This year we were able to admit even more participants and were completely booked for 3 golf courses. As before, participants were super enthusiastic, delivered exciting duels and ended the match days in a relaxed Bavarian beer garden atmosphere.

During the 2022 Bad Griesbach event we were also able to share our new 2023 location:
2023 - 144 goes Sweden!

2022

3rd edition Austria/Carinthia

This year 144 am Wörthersee has grown to over 60 teams and posted more than 500 participants. The three different tournament courses Velden, Dellach and Moosburg were played on all three days with two shotgun starts. In addition, the tournament´s entertainment and side events were rounded off with another boat party, fine dining on the lake and a BBQ night.

2022

6th edition in Bad Griesbach

This year we were able to admit even more participants and were completely booked for 3 golf courses. As before, participants were super enthusiastic, delivered exciting duels and ended the match days in a relaxed Bavarian beer garden atmosphere.

During the 2022 Bad Griesbach event we were also able to share our new 2023 location:
2023 - 144 goes Sweden!

2021

2nd edition Austria/Carinthia

At Wörthersee in 2021, we wanted to grow further and take full advantage of the breathtaking location there. The event grew to 48 teams. For the first time, it was played on 3 courses at the same time. In addition, we created what is probably the best side event to date at 144 - A Question of Honor:

The 144 - Party Cruise

2021

5th edition in Bad Griesbach

In 2021, despite the ongoing Corona pandemic but thru implementation of required safety measures we were able to hold the event again.

Unfortunately, we had to reduce the number of participants here to 60 teams.

Nevertheless, the event was yet again a success and you could tell every participant had missed it in 2020!

2020

Premiere in Austria/Carinthia

After 144 - A Question of Honor turned out to be a total success in Germany, we decided to create another event in Austria at the beautiful Wörthersee in 2020.

Despite the prevailing pandemic, we were able to hold our first edition with a limited field of participants. With just 20 teams it was a small but still very charming event that teasered everyone in wanting more in the future!

2020

2020 - Bad Griesbach - cancelled due to pandemic -

Unfortunately, due to the worldwide Corona pandemic and the associated restrictions, it was not possible to realize 144 - A Question of Honor in Germany in August!

2019

4th edition in Bad Griesbach

In 2019 we finally did it - 144 smashed through the 1,000 participants barrier. All team slots were completely booked within 15 minutes.

For the first time ever golf was played on four courses simultaneously on-site. The award ceremony with over 600 participants taking part took place on the driving range in Penning and ended in a small after-show party! The event was a complete success!

2018

3rd edition in Bad Griesbach

In 2018, the event was completely booked within an hour. With 70 teams, the number of participants now exceeded 550.

The cult event became more and more famous in Germany but also in Austria and Switzerland. We even welcomed two teams each from Italy and Belarus.

2017

2nd edition in Bad Griesbach

After a total success with the 1st edition in 2016 which was fully sold out within a few days, the capacity was increased to 400 participants in 2017.
Also in 2017 the event was a great success and became more and more known in Germany and developed into a "cult event" only within 2 years

2016

1st edition in Bad Griesbach

After many years of planning, 144 - A Question of Honor, one of the most extraordinary golf tournaments in Europe
was launched in 2016. For the first time ever
in the history of amateur golf in Europe,
almost 200 players from different nations and across all handicap classes met as teams at the
"Ryder Cup of the Amateurs". The first winner of 144 was: "Golfclub Sagmühle".
